About
Hi, I’m Dr. Tasha,
As a former head of Science and curriculum leader in an outstanding secondary school, teaching Science and inspiring a love of learning in students, is my passion.
In 2023, I walked away from my classroom laboratory, to fully commit to delivering dynamic and engaging online Science tuition, utilising my 18 years’ teaching experience and wealth of resources, and sharing my passion for learning with both UK and international students. Here, I have loved building a rapport with my students, either one to one or in groups. As a tutor it is a privilege to nurture the academic and emotional progress of students. They may arrive lacking in confidence, motivation or knowledge. Having the right tutor is transformational!
I am relentless in encouraging a sense of self-belief in my students, empowering them to overcome learning challenges and become confident, competent learners. My learning opportunities effectively allow students to secure the top grades, by sharing a wealth of exam success tips, and offering the right level of challenge with support.
As an examiner for two major exam boards, I impart cutting-edge exam techniques for GCSE/IGCSE Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, as well as A/AS level Chemistry, including the Cambridge international course. My focus on building long-term memory and supporting independent study ensures that students not only excel but also develop lasting academic skills.
My passion began with a love of Chemistry research, in Manchester, where I was awarded a Chemistry PhD and chartered chemist status. I enjoyed travelling to conferences to collaborate with Scientists and present my research. Whilst completing my PhD research, I worked as a Chemistry lecturer. This is where my passion for teaching began. I recall that the connections built, whilst supporting undergraduates with their final dissertations and in small group Chemistry tutorials, were the most rewarding aspects of the job.
My research led me to starting a post-doctoral research fellowship at Cardiff University and a new fascination with the radioactive elements and discovering how to safely extract them. Being a senior member of a bioinorganic research team allowed me to initiate and supervise MSc and PhD student research and also publish my own research in Radiochimica Acta (1996) and Applied Radiation and Isotopes (1997).
I continued my radioactive research as a consultant chemist back in Manchester, where I led a range of research projects in the fields of Speciation Chemistry, Equilibrium Chemistry, Bio-inorganic Chemistry and Radioactive & Environment Waste Treatment. This fantastic opportunity also enabled me to further develop my passion for teaching as a part-time lecturer in Chemistry at Manchester University.
